Deion Sanders Set to Discuss Shedeur's Future with Browns HC

Shedeur Sanders has emerged as a prominent figure in the NFL since his selection in the 2025 draft, drawing attention for various reasons. His father, Deion Sanders, has frequently been in the spotlight, particularly due to Shedeur’s unexpected drop to the fifth round, despite earlier projections placing him in the first round. Notably, Shedeur earned a Pro Bowl selection, even with less than impressive statistics. As the 2026 season approaches, it appears that Deshaun Watson is looking to reclaim his position as the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns, prompting Deion to engage in discussions with the team's head coach.

Deion Sanders, who also serves as the head coach at Colorado, mentioned that the Browns had not reached out to him concerning his son during Shedeur's rookie year. With Todd Monken now at the helm, there seems to be a willingness to consult with Deion regarding Shedeur’s development. In a media briefing on Wednesday, Monken expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity to meet with Coach Prime, stating, “I’m open anytime he wants to meet… I really am looking forward to it. I got a ton of respect for him, and I got a ton of respect for Shedeur because all he has done since I’ve been here is work. That’s all he has done is compete.”

Previously, during an appearance on The Barbershop, Deion voiced his frustration about the lack of communication from the Browns, stating, “I want to meet him because I think it’s vital that as a coach, not the dad, I can tell him a few things about [Shedeur], how to get him going.” He further questioned why the team hadn’t consulted him before or after the draft concerning Shedeur or other players like Travis Hunter, who was selected by Jacksonville. “You would want to know that,” he remarked.
