Delsea and Kingsway Capture Sectional Baseball Titles in New Jersey

In a thrilling display of talent, the Delsea Regional High School baseball team clinched the South Jersey Group 3 championship with an 8-4 victory over Mainland on Friday, thanks to senior Ryan Looby's impressive three-run homer. This marks the Crusaders' third sectional title in the past five years, and they now set their sights on the state title as they prepare to face Central Jersey champion Brick Memorial on Monday. Delsea, boasting a record of 20-6, will be looking to build on their recent success.

Looby, who returned to the field after recovering from winter wrist surgery, hit his first high school home run to push Delsea ahead 5-3 in the third inning. The offensive effort was further bolstered by Dom Montana, who contributed two runs, while Milo Gebhard and Andrew Weir each crossed the plate twice. Connor Harrison was pivotal on the mound, delivering 3 2/3 innings of scoreless relief to secure the championship.

Meanwhile, in the Central Jersey Group 3 final, top-seeded Brick Memorial dominated Northern Burlington with a 7-0 win, ending Northern’s season at 24-4. The Greyhounds' pitcher, Brody Moore, excelled in the game, striking out nine batters and allowing no walks in a complete game effort.

In South Jersey Group 4, Kingsway celebrated its first sectional title in 34 years by defeating Eastern 12-2. Austin Schmidt played a crucial role, hitting a triple and driving in four runs, while Tyler Rodgers struck out nine in a complete game performance, allowing only five hits.

In South Jersey Group 2, Haddon Heights secured its sixth sectional title with an 8-1 victory over Haddonfield, with Kevin Clark leading the charge with two RBI doubles. Finally, in South Jersey Group 1, Woodstown triumphed over Maple Shade 2-0, with Blake Rodriguez and Stone Hassler combining for a three-hitter. Woodstown will now prepare to face Point Pleasant Beach in the upcoming state semifinals.
