Edmen Shahbazyan Vows to Shine Against Brendan Allen at UFC Fight Night 278
LAS VEGAS – Edmen Shahbazyan is determined to seize his opportunity at UFC Fight Night 278 this Saturday. The fighter, holding a record of 26-7 in MMA and 14-4 in the UFC, finds himself in a significant matchup against top-ranked middleweight Brendan Allen, who has a record of 16-5 in MMA and 9-5 in the UFC, at the META APEX (Paramount+). A win could dramatically alter the course of his career, and despite being seen as the underdog, Shahbazyan is confident he won’t squander this chance.
Reflecting on his past experiences, Shahbazyan stated, "I wouldn't take back anything that happened in the past. It's God's timing. Here we are. I'm a lot better fighter today. More mature, more established and Saturday night is going to be a good night. I promise." He acknowledged Allen’s toughness but expressed his readiness for the challenge ahead. "I'm ready for this moment. I'm ready to go Saturday night," he added.
A victory for Shahbazyan, especially if it comes decisively, would propel him into the top ranks of the middleweight division. He believes he belongs among the elite, even as he navigates the complexities of competing with his friend and training partner, Sean Strickland, who currently holds the championship belt. "I think I can fit in well to it given how the last (title) fight went," Shahbazyan commented, reflecting on the competitive landscape. "It's up for grabs in my opinion, and Sean is a good friend of mine. We train together. We're main training partners. We always push each other hard."
