El Paso Chihuahuas return to host Round Rock for six-game series
The El Paso Chihuahuas endured a tough road trip but ended it on a good note at Salt Lake City when they salvaged the final game of what turned into a 2-4 road trip.
They now return home to take on the worst team in the Pacific Coast League, Round Rock, for a six-game series that starts Tuesday, May 19.
El Paso enters its latest home stand in third place in the five-team PCL East Division at 21-24. The Chihuahuas once again failing to reach .500 after getting within a game of it (they were 19-20 entering the Salt Lake City series).
This ends up being a key series as next up after Round Rock is a six-game series at division-leading Albuquerque, which is five games up on the Chihuahuas.
Streaking Chihuahuas
After going 2-for-4 in Sunday's win at Salt Lake, Nick Solak has now reached base in 24 straight games. He had a .480 on-base percentage in the series where he played every game.
Catcher Victor Duarte was promoted from Single-A Lake Elsinore this week and in two games with El Paso has reached base four times in nine plate appearances. In Sunday's win he was 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and a walk.
Starting pitcher Evan Fitterer gave up one run in six innings in Saturday's loss that matched the longest start by an El Paso pitcher this year. In that game, the Chihuahuas turned double plays to end three consecutive innings from the second through the fourth.
Fernando Sanchez was promoted from Double-A San Antonio last week and allowed one earned run in four innings in his first career Triple-A start, a 3-2 Chihuahuas win on Thursday

The Chihuahuas are celebrating Memorial Day on Saturday and Sunday with post-game fireworks shows.
The big giveaway day is Friday night when Camo Jerseys will be handed out to the first 1,500 fans through the door as part of Military Appreciation Night. Season ticket holders get in first and the jerseys will go quickly.

Tickets range in price from $14 for a outfield green seats to $64. They are available online or at the stadium.
