First-year Dolphins exec already interviewing for new job elsewhere

The Miami Dolphins had to fill out their front office and coaching staff this offseason after moving on from general manager Chris Grier and head coach Mike McDaniel over the last few months.

While there are plenty of new names in the building, one of them may already be on the way out, as NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported that the Minnesota Vikings have requested to interview Dolphins assistant general manager Kyle Smith for their open general manager job.

Smith, 41, played professionally from 2006-09 before joining Washington's front office as a scouting intern in 2010. After 11 years there, he spent five with the Atlanta Falcons and joined Miami in January.

The Vikings fired general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah earlier this offseason, and they waited until after the draft to put together a list of candidates. Smith has a connection to Minnesota, as he signed with the team as an undrafted free agent in 2006.
