Georgia Tech Baseball Advances to Regional Final with 9-3 Win Over Oklahoma

Georgia Tech's baseball team has secured a spot in the regional final after a decisive 9-3 victory against Oklahoma. This win marks the 50th of the season for the Yellow Jackets, making it their first season with over 50 wins since 2006, and they now hold an impressive 50-9 record, the best in the program's history over 59 games.

The standout player of the match was Parker Brosius, who continued his remarkable performance by hitting two crucial two-run home runs. He first connected in the second inning, followed by another in the sixth, contributing to a total of nine home runs since his graduation earlier this month—more than doubling his career total prior to May.

After Brosius' sixth-inning homer, the Yellow Jackets added four more runs in the seventh, thanks to a bases-loaded walk, a two-run single from Alex Hernandez, and a sacrifice fly by Will Baker. The game faced a 62-minute weather delay during the seventh inning, resuming just before 11 p.m., with Baker’s run coming shortly thereafter.

Xander Mercurius pitched effectively for Oklahoma, striking out eight over 5.2 innings while allowing five runs, four of which were due to Brosius' home runs. His fastball reached the high 90s and was complemented by low 80s off-speed pitches that kept Tech's hitters on their toes. Meanwhile, Tate McKee took the mound for Tech, also striking out eight and throwing a season-high 104 pitches, successfully navigating key moments with runners in scoring positions.

With their strong performance, Georgia Tech is now poised for a chance at further success in the tournament. This regional final appearance underscores the team's determination and skill as they look to continue their winning streak.
