German 100m record holder faces anti-doping probe but not suspended
German 100 metres record holder Owen Ansah is subject of an investigation by the German Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) but he is not provisionally suspended.
The NADA said on Friday it has initiated proceedings against Ansah "regarding a possible Anti-Doping Rule Violation (refusing sample collection).
"The athlete is not currently provisionally suspended. For the possible Anti-Doping Rule Violation the anti-doping regulations do not provide for a mandatory provisional suspension," it said.
The NADA gave no further details and Ansah is yet to comment.
Athletes can be banned for up to four years if they are found guilty of refusing a test which is treated like a positive test.
Ansah, 25, became the first German to dip below 10 seconds two years ago with 9.99 seconds. He bettered the national record to 9.98 seconds last month.
Ansah is considered a medal contender for next month's European Championships in Birmingham in the individual race and with the German 4x100m relay team.
