Hannah Cain Departs Leicester City Following WSL Relegation
Wales forward Hannah Cain is set to part ways with Leicester City after the team's drop from the Women's Super League (WSL). The 27-year-old will be one of three players exiting the club at the end of the month as their contracts come to a close. Notably, Wales goalkeeper Olivia Clark will continue with Leicester for the 2026-27 season.
Cain joined Leicester in 2020 after a stint with Everton and played a pivotal role in the club's promotion to the WSL during her first year. Reflecting on her time with the club, she stated on social media, "After six unforgettable years, I feel that now is the right time for me to say goodbye. This club has been so much more than just a place to play football. It's been a place where I've grown, learned, created lifelong friendships, and made memories that I'll cherish forever."
As she prepares with the Wales national team for upcoming matches against Montenegro and the Czech Republic in their final Women's World Cup qualifiers, Cain has not yet revealed her plans for next season. She expressed her gratitude for her experiences at Leicester, adding, "While it was always going to be difficult to leave, I'm incredibly grateful for everything this club has given me. I'll always look back on these years with pride and appreciation."
