Hilary Knight Joins PWHL Detroit in Major Trade Move

The Professional Women's Hockey League's Detroit franchise has exceeded its Phase 2 expansion goals and made headlines with the acquisition of renowned forward Hilary Knight through a sign-and-trade deal with Las Vegas on June 8. Knight, a legendary figure in Team USA hockey, holds the record for the most career Olympic goals and points by an American woman.

Last season, Knight played for the expansion Seattle Torrent, but her year was hampered by a torn knee ligament, which she managed to play through during the World Championship in Milan. Despite her injury, she recorded five goals and nine assists in 22 games, demonstrating her enduring skill, especially with two goals and two assists in the final eight games after returning from injury.

As she approaches the 2026-27 season at age 37, Knight has expressed a desire to continue her career with Seattle.
