How many former Dallas-area standouts are suiting up in the Women's College World Series?
The Women's College World Series is here and both Texas and Texas Tech are headed to Oklahoma City to compete for the softball national championship.
The Dallas area has become a hotbed for softball talent and some former Dallas-area high school stars will be suiting up in the WCWS for the Longhorns and Red Raiders.
See the full list of locals you can keep your eye on during the Women's College World Series below.
No. 2 Texas
IF Caigan Crabtree, freshman, Melissa
Crabtree is a product of a local softball powerhouse in Melissa. She was named The Dallas Morning News' Offensive Player of the Year in 2025 and powered Melissa to the 5A-I state championship with a .545 batting average, 20 home runs and 60 RBI. Crabtree was also the MVP of the 2024 5A state championship and was named The News' 2024 Softball Player of the Year. Her mother Cassie Crabtree is the current head coach at Melissa as well.
However, Crabtree hasn't gotten a ton of playing time in her freshman year to this point with the Longhorns, appearing in just 11 games and registering only 12 at-bats so far this year.
OF Adayah Wallace, junior, Plano West
Wallace, a Plano native and product of Plano West, was a two-time All-District selection in 2021 and 2022 for Plano West. She hasn't registered much playing time for Texas this season either, appearing in 36 games bet has gotten just four at-bats. She is, however, used relatively often as a pinch runner and has scored 15 runs this year.
UT Drea Wilson, freshman, North Forney
Wilson is a former standout from North Forney, earning two first-team All-District selections during her time in high school. She has not appeared in a game for the Longhorns during her freshman campaign.
No. 11 Texas Tech
OF Logan Halleman, junior, Flower Mound
Halleman is a junior outfielder out of Flower Mound who has been a key piece for the Red Raiders since her freshman year, when she was anmed to the All-Big 12 Freshman Team.
So far in 2025-26, the former Flower Mound standout has appeared in 53 games and made 12 starts. She has a .409 batting average across 22 at-bats with 22 runs scored, five walks. Halleman's biggest role with Texas Tech is being a pest on the basepaths, as she is fifth on the team in stolen bases and is a perfect 13-for-13 on stolen base attempts this season.
