How Tottenham can get relegated on final match day of Premier League season
This much is certain: No matter what happens on Championship Sunday, a big London club is going to see its time in the Premier League come to an end. But we could be looking at the near-unthinkable:
Tottenham Hotspur relegated to the EFL Championship.
With 37 matches completed in the Premier League season, the battle to avoid the final relegation spot will come down between Tottenham and West Ham. Spurs needed to pick up at least a point at London rival Chelsea to earn safety on Tuesday. But the 2-1 loss at Stamford Bridge clinched an awfully nervous Sunday for the Spurs supporters.
Spurs have played in England's top flight for 48 straight seasons and are one of six clubs to never be relegated from the Premier League (founded in 1992). Tottenham heads into Sunday with just a two-point lead over West Ham in the drop zone.
This is how that run can come to an end on Sunday.
Spurs relegated with
Tottenham loss at home against Everton AND a West Ham win against Leeds at the London Stadium.
West Ham relegated with
Tottenham win/draw against Everton OR a West Ham loss against Leeds.
On Tuesday, Arsenal locked up its first Premier League title in 22 years. So, all eyes will be on the relegation battle.
