Jacob Misiorowski Achieves Stunning Shutout with 15 Strikeouts and a One-Hitter
Jacob Misiorowski, the Milwaukee Brewers' dominant right-handed pitcher, delivered a remarkable performance on June 12 at American Family Field, achieving his first complete game and shutout. In a masterful display, he struck out 15 batters and allowed only one hit, needing just 95 pitches to secure a 6-0 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies.
The lone hit against Misiorowski came from Kyle Schwarber in the fourth inning, but he was quickly erased on a double play initiated by Bryce Harper. Remarkably, Misiorowski faced only 27 batters throughout the game, marking a significant milestone as it was his first outing beyond the seventh inning in 28 starts. Notably, he recorded a blistering fastball that reached 104.5 mph, the fastest pitch by a starting pitcher since the advent of pitch tracking in 2008.
Reflecting on his performance, Misiorowski described the experience as feeling like he was "floating." He maintained impressive velocity throughout the game, clocking 104.5 mph on his first pitch and finishing with a 103 mph fastball to strike out Justin Crawford for the final out. The Brewers' manager, Pat Murphy, praised Misiorowski's performance, noting, “That was as good as it gets... incredible, incredible performance.”
This victory also marked the Brewers' first complete game since Brandon Woodruff's outing in September 2023, and it seems likely that Misiorowski will deliver more such performances in the future. At just 24 years old and standing 6-foot-7, he continues to challenge expectations regarding the durability and efficiency of a hard-throwing pitcher. His stellar season has earned him an impressive 1.34 ERA, currently the best in Major League Baseball.
