Jalen Williams Injury Update: Thunder Star Progresses Despite Game 6 Setback
Mark Daigneault provided an update on Jalen Williams ahead of the pivotal Game 7 in the Western Conference finals between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the San Antonio Spurs, set for Saturday at 7 p.m. CT. After being sidelined for Games 3 through 5 due to management of a left hamstring strain, Williams made a brief appearance in Game 6, where he played just 10 minutes in the Thunder's 118-91 loss on the road.
Despite his limited minutes, Daigneault confirmed that Williams did not experience any setbacks. If the Thunder manage to defeat the Spurs and reach the NBA Finals, where they would face the New York Knicks, Williams will continue his rehabilitation with hopes of returning to the court. "He came out of the game about where he went into it," Daigneault stated. "We knew he wouldn't be a full 100 percent... The only way to find out was to get him out there."
Daigneault emphasized the determination Williams showed by attempting to contribute despite not being at his best. "That's somebody who's used to playing up here... but is just willing to do whatever he can to help the team," he said. The decision to sit out Game 7 was made collectively, with the team considering Williams' well-being and future.
As the Thunder prepare for their crucial matchup, they will also be without Ajay Mitchell, who is missing his fourth consecutive game due to a right soleus strain. The stakes are high as Oklahoma City aims to advance in the playoffs.
