Drafted in the 15th round by the Chicago Cubs in 2017, Young was not regarded as a top prospect. He eventually took his talents to South Korea, where he thrived with the Doosan Bears before signing with the Mets for the 2025 season. After a solid showing last year, he re-signed with New York, finding his footing in a team that had previously overlooked him.

The Mets now face a challenging decision with Jorge Polanco close to returning from injury.
