Joe Rogan Calls UFC Freedom 250 at White House His 'Wildest Experience'
Joe Rogan has expressed his admiration for UFC Freedom 250, a groundbreaking event hosted at the White House. As the UFC's veteran color commentator, Rogan was present at the South Lawn this past Sunday to provide live commentary for the fights. Prior to the event, he voiced concerns, describing it as "crazy" to hold a UFC event at the White House during ongoing tensions with Iran. He also worried about the fighters coping with the heat and insects prevalent on the lawn.
Despite forecasts predicting severe thunderstorms, the weather turned out to be unexpectedly favorable after a slight delay in the event's start. “It was perfect. The temperature was perfect,” Rogan shared on his "Joe Rogan Experience" podcast. “I was really concerned that these guys were gonna have to fight in the heat, but it was not an issue at all. It seemed like it was in the 70s, and the storm just miraculously passed us.” He humorously speculated on whether the storm's deviation was a matter of luck or something more mysterious.
Rogan was also struck by the scale of the event, which attracted approximately 4,500 attendees, primarily military personnel, to the South Lawn. Additionally, the Ellipse across from the White House saw tens of thousands of fans gathering to enjoy the fights on large screens. “The magnitude of the event – I know people saw it on television, and it looked insane. But being there live … it was insane,” he noted.
UFC Freedom 250 featured a total of seven fights, all concluding with knockouts, highlighted by Justin Gaethje's stunning victory over Ilia Topuria for the undisputed lightweight title. Rogan, who often uses hyperbolic language, declared, “That was the wildest experience that I've ever had in my 20-whatever years of calling combat sports. There's nothing even close. It was the greatest night of fights of all time.”
