Justin Gaethje Faces Six-Month Suspension Following Victory at UFC Freedom 250

Justin Gaethje will be out of action for a minimum of six months after his thrilling TKO win against Ilia Topuria at UFC Freedom 250, which took place on June 14. Following the fight, Gaethje was issued a 180-day medical suspension due to injuries sustained during the bout, alongside others from the event.

Gaethje's suspension is contingent on the clearance of MRI scans for his right wrist and left knee, with an additional 45 days of mandatory rest required. This suspension is categorized as medical rather than disciplinary, stemming from the physical toll of an intense five-round contest rather than any misconduct.

Topuria also received a 180-day suspension, primarily due to facial injuries, indicating that both fighters will be sidelined for the foreseeable future. Gaethje's victory marked a significant milestone, as he captured the undisputed lightweight title, overcoming the odds as a heavy underdog.
