Kendrick Perkins Shares Outlandish Bet if Spurs Claim NBA Championship

The New York Knicks took an early lead in the 2026 NBA Finals, but ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins has made headlines with a bold proclamation regarding the San Antonio Spurs. Confident in the Spurs' potential to win the championship, Perkins laid out a humorous list of five commitments he will fulfill if they emerge victorious.

During an episode of NBA Today, Perkins, who earned an NBA championship with the Boston Celtics in 2008, shared his eccentric plans. Among the more unusual bets was his promise to enjoy a meal with employees from the San Antonio Zoo. “Hey, any restaurant around San Antonio; I don’t give a damn if it’s a steakhouse, run the tab up,” he stated, revealing his intention to treat ten zoo staff members to dinner.

In addition to the dinner, Perkins pledged to provide 50 Spurs fans with VIP experiences at the zoo, covering all expenses, including meals and even feeding the lions. “Out of my pocket… And I’m talking about everything,” he confirmed.

Perkins also made a personal commitment to wear a Spurs-themed chain continuously for an entire month, declaring, “I’ve gotta bathe in it. I cannot take it off.” A particularly bold part of his list includes eating an entire raw onion live on television. “I will eat a raw onion on NBA Today,” he declared emphatically.

Finally, if the Spurs win, Perkins vowed to shave both his head and beard, stating, “If the Spurs win this series and prove me wrong, I will do the list of five things that I just highlighted as well.” With these entertaining bets, many fans who previously had no allegiance in the Finals may find themselves cheering for the Spurs.
