Kyle Teel Shines in Rehab, But Knights Fall to Bisons
Kyle Teel made an impressive comeback during his rehab assignment, hitting a two-run home run in his very first at-bat, contributing to the Charlotte Knights' 9-5 defeat against the Buffalo Bisons. Despite the loss, Teel finished the game with two hits, two runs, and two RBIs, showcasing his potential.
The Knights (38-32) faced another challenging night on the mound, with pitching struggles proving costly. Noah Schultz, who started the game, walked the first batter he faced before giving up a two-run homer. Although Schultz managed to strike out four batters, he struggled with his command, walking three in just 1 1/3 innings. Fellow rehabber Jordan Hicks entered in the fourth, but also faltered, allowing two walks and a three-run homer that widened the gap for Buffalo.
Charlotte made a brief comeback in the sixth, with home runs from Michael Turner and Nolan Jones narrowing the score to 6-5. However, Buffalo quickly extinguished any hopes of a comeback by adding three more runs shortly thereafter. The lone bright spot for the Knights' pitching staff was Peyton Pallette, who tossed 1 1/3 hitless innings while striking out three.
Among the standout players for the Knights were Rikuu Nishida, who went 2-for-5, and Teel with his stellar 2-for-3 performance, including a homer. Conversely, Junior Perez and Dustin Harris struggled at the plate, each finishing 0-for-4.
In other games, the Winston-Salem Dash fell to the Greensboro Grasshoppers, losing 4-1, while the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers were defeated by the Fayetteville Woodpeckers, 6-3. The ACL White Sox faced a tough outing, losing 8-0 against the ACL Brewers, while the DSL White Sox managed a narrow victory over DSL Miami, winning 7-6.
