La Salle Lacrosse Advances to PIAA Championship with Dominant Win Over Springfield-Delco

WEST CHESTER — La Salle's lacrosse team ensured that history would not repeat itself, decisively defeating Springfield-Delco 12-4 in the PIAA Class 3A semifinals on Tuesday night. This victory avenged last year's loss to the same team at the same stage, propelling the Explorers into the championship match set for Saturday at Penn State against Radnor, who triumphed over Manheim Township with a score of 16-3.

La Salle, the reigning District 12 champions, established a commanding 4-0 lead within the first eight minutes of the game, maintaining control throughout the contest. Senior Cooper Heilig emphasized the team's motivation, saying, “They beat us last year and we remembered and that gave us more motivation.” He added, “We were ready to go and we started fast and everyone just played really well.”

Head coach Jack Forster praised his team's quick start, noting that the players executed their offensive strategy effectively. "Our guys came out fast and got the offense going and kept at it," he stated. "They were motivated by what happened last year, and our team leaders did a great job of keeping everyone focused."

The Explorers showcased their depth as seven different players scored in the first half, with sophomore Mason Smith contributing his second goal just before halftime, bringing the score to 8-2. Senior Dylan Malone reflected on the team's confidence, sharing, “We were pretty confident coming into the game and we stuck to our gameplan. And a bunch of guys scored goals, and it shows that our offense is pretty well-rounded. Everybody just played great for us.”
