LeBron James next team gets coy answer from NBA superstar

Just when fans thought LeBron James was finally going to spill the beans on where he’s headed next in his NBA career, the 41-year-old superstar left everyone guessing, as his latest answer still offered no indication of where the four-time champion will be playing in 2026.

Joining Indiana point guard Tyrese Haliburton at Fanatics Fest 2026 for a live interview, James was put on the spot by Haliburton, as expected by fans, who had seen the Pacers star mention the free agent on X before their sit-down.

Haliburton would ask LeBron where he plans to go in free agency, and while fans expected James to give a serious answer, which would answer one of the hottest questions of the summer, instead, the NBA’s leading scorer gave a playful answer to entice the crowd.

Mentioning three of the favorites and a new team out of left field, James exclaimed, “I heard Warriors…Philly…Miami…someone said you come to the Yankees.”

While the first three are certainly among the betting favorites in the King James sweepstakes, LeBron adding the Yankees was a possible indicator that he’s not ready to let the public know just where he’s headed next and would rather keep everyone guessing.

Outside of the Golden State Warriors, Philadelphia 76ers, and Miami Heat, other players in the league have made their push for James to join their squad, including Haliburton, who continued to poke at the potential decision of LeBron during their interview.

Eventually, James would have to tell Haliburton, “We already talked about this in the back,” prompting the Pacers guard to reply, “Okay, I’ll leave it alone.”

With a big decision to make, not just for James, but for the entire landscape of the current NBA, fans will continue to be on the edge of their seat in hopes the four-time NBA MVP makes his decision sooner rather than later.
