Mike Evans Poised for Red Zone Success with 49ers, Analyst Predicts

The San Francisco 49ers have significantly enhanced their offense by signing six-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Mike Evans to a three-year deal during free agency. As the team navigates through offseason practices, one analyst believes that head coach Kyle Shanahan will strategically deploy Evans in the red zone, a key area for scoring opportunities.

Andrew Erickson, an analyst from FantasyPros, suggests that Evans is entering a prime scenario for prolific touchdown production. He draws a parallel between Evans and Los Angeles Rams receiver Davante Adams, who enjoyed a remarkable first season with his new team in 2025, leading the NFL with 14 touchdowns. Erickson argues that given the departure of Jauan Jennings and the impressive red zone performance of quarterback Brock Purdy, Evans could achieve similar success in San Francisco.

During the 2025 season, 11 of Adams' 14 touchdowns were scored from within 10 yards of the end zone, a trend that aligns with Evans' career achievements. Over his 12 seasons in the league, Evans has amassed 108 receiving touchdowns, with more than half of those coming from close-range situations.

Evans' ability to score in tight spaces complements Purdy's effectiveness, as the quarterback ranked second in the NFL last season with an average of 2.2 passing touchdowns per game when healthy. Early reports from practice indicate that Evans is already making a strong impression and building a solid connection with Purdy.
