Morris/Sussex Lacrosse Teams Set to Compete for Sectional Titles

On June 9, several Morris and Sussex lacrosse teams will vie for sectional trophies in the NJSIAA finals. Notably, a local team will be present in almost every North final, showcasing the strength of the NJAC in Group 2 competitions.

In the Group 1 North boys' final, Mountain Lakes will face Ramsey, while the girls' team from Mountain Lakes takes on Glen Ridge. This matchup is familiar territory for the Lakers, who triumphed over the same teams in last year's sectional finals. The girls have claimed four consecutive Group 1 North titles, and the boys have dominated with 12 straight sectional trophies. However, Glen Ridge previously limited Mountain Lakes to just one goal in their recent game on May 20, where junior Avery Reid stood out with 34 goals and seven assists this season.

Meanwhile, in the Group 2 North boys' final, Sparta will compete against West Morris. Sparta, led by senior Eddie Brown, is eager to secure its first Group championship. The Spartans are currently riding a seven-game winning streak after their earlier loss to West Morris. In the girls' final, Sparta will meet Mendham, a rematch of last year's sectional title game. This season, Sparta boasts a powerful trio of offensive players, while Mendham looks to regain its footing after a recent victory against Sparta in a crossover match.

The Group 3 North finals will feature a doubleheader at Chatham, where the girls' game between Summit and Chatham kicks off at 3:15 p.m., followed by the boys' match at 5:30 p.m. Summit has an impressive record in Group titles, while Chatham aims to capture its first Group win in a decade.

In Group 4 North, Ridgewood will battle Morristown at 4:30 p.m. Ridgewood, with eight Group titles under its belt, faces off against the defending champions from Morristown, who are looking to continue their winning streak. These matchups promise to deliver thrilling competition as local teams chase their championship dreams.
