NC State Launches Investigation into Coach Will Wade's Departure to LSU

LSU basketball coach Will Wade is facing scrutiny yet again as North Carolina State University (NC State) begins an investigation concerning his recent move back to LSU. According to a report from WRAL News, the Wolfpack alleges that Wade may have been improperly influenced by LSU during his transition.

Wade resigned from NC State on March 25 and rejoined LSU the following day. In early May, LSU fulfilled a $4 million buyout obligation to NC State for Wade. Initially, NC State planned to absolve LSU of any prior claims regarding Wade's recruitment, but this stance has shifted. On Thursday, NC State’s general counsel, Allison B. Newhart, asserted that LSU may have induced Wade to breach his contract with the Wolfpack, leading the university to reconsider its position on potential legal actions.

Prior to his current role at LSU, Wade coached the Tigers from 2017 to 2022 before his dismissal linked to an FBI wiretap investigation. His coaching career also includes stints at McNeese State and NC State.
