Nick Chubb Hints at Possible Return to Cleveland

The Cleveland Browns may not have seen the last of Nick Chubb, who recently hinted at a potential return to the team after his unceremonious exit following the 2024 season. After signing with the Houston Texans as a free agent last June, Chubb played 15 games in the 2025 season, starting nine and accumulating 506 rushing yards and three touchdowns. He also contributed 62 rushing yards during the Texans' playoff run. Now a free agent once more, Chubb's future remains uncertain.

During a recent panel discussion for University Hospitals' SportsLand event in Cleveland, Chubb expressed fondness for his time in the city. "Obviously Cleveland is a special place to me," he remarked. "Being drafted here, by Jim Brown and my time here was truly amazing ... you never know what can happen." His words suggest that he has not entirely closed the door on the possibility of returning to the Browns.

Chubb, who became a beloved figure during his seven years in Cleveland, was known for his humble approach, letting his performance speak for itself. He established himself as one of the league's top running backs before a severe knee injury in 2023 changed the trajectory of his career. The unfortunate injury occurred during a game against the Pittsburgh Steelers when he was tackled low by Minkah Fitzpatrick, leading to a torn MCL and damaged PCL.

Although he made a comeback in the following season, scoring a touchdown against Cincinnati, Chubb's performance was not at the same level as before, with just 332 rushing yards and three touchdowns in eight games. Despite this, he remains a fan favorite in Cleveland, where the current running back roster includes Quinshon Judkins, Dylan Sampson, Raheim Sanders, and Ahmani Marshall, along with undrafted rookies Davon Booth and TJ Harden.

With the possibility of adding a veteran presence, Chubb's return could be a welcome option for the Browns, and fans eagerly await any developments regarding his future.
