Ole Miss Baseball Set to Face Auburn in NCAA Super Regionals
For the first time since 2022, the Ole Miss baseball team will compete in the NCAA Tournament super regionals, facing off against fellow SEC rival Auburn. The Rebels, with a record of 39-21, will head to Plainsman Park in Auburn, Alabama, to take on the Tigers, who hold a 42-20 record and are the higher seed as the No. 4 overall seed.
The highly anticipated best-of-three series is scheduled to be held from June 5 to June 8, with the victor earning a spot in the coveted College World Series. Auburn secured its super regional berth by defeating Milwaukee, the No. 4 seed in its regional, in a decisive winner-take-all game on June 1, triumphing with an 8-3 scoreline.
Ole Miss advanced to the super regionals after a dominant performance in the Lincoln Regional, where they swept their opponents 3-0 as the No. 2 seed. Notably, the Rebels and Tigers did not meet during the regular season or in the SEC Tournament, with Auburn finishing conference play at 17-13 and Ole Miss at 15-15.
Historically, Ole Miss has reached the super regionals eight times since 2005, with their last appearance occurring in 2022 at Southern Miss, where they emerged victorious on the road to clinching the national championship. The Rebels have previously hosted super regionals in Oxford three times, but they were unable to capture a series win in those instances.
As the NCAA baseball tournament unfolds, fans can look forward to an exciting showdown between these two SEC teams.
