The Colorado Rockies faced the Athletics in a thrilling game at Las Vegas Ballpark on Saturday night, but ultimately fell short, losing 7-5. Both teams showcased strong offensive performances, combining for a total of 19 hits, yet the Rockies could not capitalize on their scoring opportunities, extending their current losing streak to three games.

Kyle Freeland's struggles continued as he struggled in the early innings again. Entering the game with a troubling 9.00 ERA in first innings, Freeland allowed a two-run single to Jacob Wilson after initially securing two outs. While he managed to recover somewhat in the second and third innings, including striking out a batter and producing a scoreless third, he could not maintain the momentum.

Despite Freeland's shaky start, the Rockies' offense began to rally. A solo home run by Brett Sullivan in the third brought the Rockies closer at 2-1. In the fourth, TJ Rumfield doubled and scored on a single from Troy Johnston, tying the game at 2-2. However, the Athletics quickly regained the lead with a two-run homer from Zack Gelof.

The Rockies took charge in the fifth, highlighted by Kyle Karros's first career triple, which sparked a surge that saw them take a 5-4 lead. Unfortunately, their advantage was short-lived. Freeland surrendered a game-tying run in the sixth, and after a pitching change, Jaden Hill allowed the Athletics to pull ahead again, ultimately sealing the Rockies' fate.

As the game progressed, the Rockies struggled to find their rhythm, managing only one hit after the fifth inning. Rockies manager Warren Schaeffer attributed the loss to "sloppy baseball," emphasizing missed opportunities that could have changed the outcome. The teams are set to meet again Sunday afternoon for the final game of the series, with the Rockies looking to turn things around.
