Rookie Drew Allar Gains Insight from Aaron Rodgers

The Minnesota Vikings reportedly decided against acquiring Aaron Rodgers in 2025, partially due to concerns regarding how his improvisational play style might hinder J.J. McCarthy's development. In contrast, the Pittsburgh Steelers are actively benefiting from the veteran quarterback's extensive knowledge as they mentor rookie Drew Allar.

Allar recently shared his experiences working with Rodgers, stating, “With me, specifically, he’s pulled me aside during practice to talk through some drill work or things to focus on through different drills.” He elaborated on the guidance he receives during film sessions, saying, “[He’s] just asking me questions of what I was seeing, what I was looking at and why. [He’s] giving me a lot of good knowledge. I’m really excited to keep learning from him. Obviously he’s one of the best to ever do it in this game. So the opportunity I have is one I’m not going to take for granted.”

As Allar works to master the nuances of the Pittsburgh offense, he recognizes the importance of also developing his overall skills as a quarterback. With over twenty years of experience, Rodgers serves as an invaluable resource for the young player, especially considering that Allar was just a toddler when Rodgers was first drafted by the Green Bay Packers.

With Rodgers firmly established as the starter for the upcoming season, Allar is eager to absorb every lesson he can from him. Acknowledging that this may be Rodgers' final year, the rookie is determined to make the most of this unique opportunity to learn from one of the game's all-time greats.
