Rutgers Men's Golf Coach Rob Shutte Earns Northeast Region Coach of the Year Honor
The Rutgers men's golf program is experiencing a significant upswing, marked by notable achievements and recognition. Recently, Head Coach Rob Shutte was awarded the title of Northeast Region Head Coach of the Year, one of only six coaches to receive this prestigious accolade, highlighting the program's growth and success.
In addition to Shutte's recognition, the team has seen impressive accomplishments, including their highest-ever placement at the Big Ten Championships. Alumni Chris Gotterup is making a name for himself on the professional circuit, further showcasing Rutgers' commitment to excellence in golf. Shutte shared his thoughts on the program's success, stating, "The program is so healthy right now." He emphasized the team's achievements, such as the most PING All-Region selections and numerous Big Ten Players of the Week honors, alongside the milestone of freshman Lucas Politano qualifying for the NCAA regionals.
Shutte's remarks reflect the overall positive trajectory of the golf program. "There’s never been a better time to represent Rutgers, this athletic department, and this university," he noted, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to lead the team. "There’s no better time to be a part of Rutgers Athletics than right now — get on board."
This season has set several records for Rutgers golf, and as the team looks ahead, they aim to sustain their momentum and continue building on their successes in 2027.
