Rutgers Wrestling Reveals 2026-2027 Conference Schedule

On March 7, 2026, the Big Ten Conference officially unveiled the wrestling matchups for the upcoming 2026-2027 season, indicating that Rutgers will face four rivals at home and four on the road. The Scarlet Knights will host Penn State, Iowa, Indiana, and Northwestern, while their away contests will be against Maryland, Minnesota, Nebraska, and Wisconsin.

Last season, Penn State topped the rankings at No. 1, followed by Nebraska at No. 5, Iowa at No. 7, Minnesota at No. 9, Wisconsin at No. 19, and Indiana at No. 20. Rutgers narrowly missed a top-10 finish, ending up at No. 11 with a dual meet record of 14-5. Notably, only two of the teams they will compete against next season did not finish the prior season ranked.

Details regarding the specific dates and times for these matches will be announced in the future. In addition to the conference schedule, Rutgers has also been invited to participate in the National Duals Invitational set for December 12-13 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Each team in this event will receive $20,000 just for attending, with additional financial incentives based on performance.

The competition will feature a 16-team bracket, where the bottom eight teams will not receive bonuses, while those finishing between 6th and 8th will earn between $20,000 and $40,000. Teams placing 4th and 5th will receive $100,000, while 2nd and 3rd place will earn $175,000. The tournament champion will take home a substantial prize of $250,000. Other notable universities participating include Oklahoma State, Iowa State, and NC State, among others.

Next year, Rutgers will be bolstered by five former NCAA qualifiers: Andrew Barbosa, Shane Cartagena-Walsh, Remy Cotton, Daniel Herrera (a transfer from Iowa State), and Brett Ungar (a transfer from Cornell). They will also add Anthony Knox, the highest-rated recruit in the program's history.
