Sam Curran Cuts Ties with Rajasthan Royals on Social Media Following Sangakkara's Remarks

In a surprising turn of events, England cricket star Sam Curran has reportedly unfollowed the Rajasthan Royals on social media. This decision comes on the heels of criticism directed at him by Royals mentor Kumar Sangakkara, who questioned Curran's withdrawal from this year's IPL season due to injury while he later participated in matches for Surrey.

Initially expected to be a significant asset for the Royals after joining from Chennai Super Kings, Curran cited a groin injury as the reason for his IPL exit, leading the team to sign Sri Lankan player Dasun Shanaka as his replacement. Sangakkara expressed his disappointment at Curran's availability for Surrey despite being ruled out of the IPL, stating, "We were told that Sam Curran had a season-ending injury, but I think I saw him playing for Surrey for two games or three games now. So that was disappointing." He added that the team would have welcomed Curran's presence.

Despite the Royals' claim that Curran had informed them of his unavailability beforehand, the situation has caused complications. Shanaka had to withdraw from his PSL agreement to join Rajasthan, resulting in a one-year suspension from that league.

Curran has explained that his injury had been worsening during the T20 World Cup, stating, "It's an injury that I've kind of been battling with a little bit." He acknowledged the difficulty of his decision but emphasized that it was necessary for his health.

Following this public fallout, the future of Curran with the Royals appears uncertain. Interest in him seemed limited during the previous IPL cycle, yet speculation is already circulating about his potential return to the Chennai Super Kings, a franchise he has previously expressed affection for.
