Steelers Eye Potential Quarterback Solution with Sorsby's Supplemental Draft Declaration

The Pittsburgh Steelers are currently facing uncertainty regarding their quarterback future, but a new opportunity has emerged with the announcement that Brendan Sorsby from Texas Tech has declared for the NFL Supplemental Draft. This development follows Sorsby losing his NCAA eligibility amidst a significant gambling scandal.

As reported by NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, Sorsby is seeking to enter the supplemental draft after his eligibility was called into question due to his involvement in betting activities. The talented quarterback, who was seen as a potential first-round pick, could become one of the highest selections in the supplemental draft in many years.

Sorsby allegedly placed over $90,000 in wagers, which included at least 40 bets on Indiana football while he was part of the team. Following an NCAA ruling that deemed him ineligible, Sorsby is now setting his sights on a professional career in the NFL.

The Steelers, who are in need of a solid plan for the quarterback position as Aaron Rodgers approaches retirement, may consider bringing Sorsby into the mix. He could compete with current players Will Howard and Drew Allar for the starting position in 2027.
