Summer tight end rankings for the 2027 NFL Draft

We have reached another week into the Summer Scouting process, and that means we have wrapped up watching the top tight ends in the class heading into the Fall.

In total, I watched 13 tight ends and will be sharing some notes on the top 10. I will share all the names at the end, but when we discuss the top options of this tight end class, there are some top-end pieces for teams to target. The Summer is all about being positive with players, with some notes to keep in mind when we watch them in the Fall.

We have beaten around the bush enough, though, let's show our rankings.

1) Jamari Johnson, Oregon

Scouting Report

Johnson, in my eyes, I believe is projecting to be a better prospect than Kenyon Sadiq was during this last draft cycle. Where he sets himself above Sadiq is the blocking ability and he matches him in his ability to be a receiver.

2) Trey'Dez Green, LSU

Scouting Report

Green is a massive target in the passing game and is going to be very interesting to see how he is used in Lane Kiffin's offense. He needs to add some weight and get better as a blocker, but he is another player for whom the sky is the limit.

3) Terrance Carter Jr., Texas Tech

Scouting Report

Carter has good size to be a fun piece in an NFL team's offense and is a reliable blocker just as much as he is a receiver. Look for him be a sleeper when folks look at this group as a whole.

4) DJ Vonnahme, Iowa

Scouting Report

Some folks in the draft community are very high on Vonnahme, and I get it. But at this point, he is a big projection, but he is one who has the skills to live up to the hype that some are giving as a top tight end choice.

5) Jeremiah Hasley, Duke

Scouting Report

Hasley might be my favorite underdog in this group because of the effort he puts in. He does it all for Duke, but his ability and effort with and without the ball in his hands is where he is a blast to watch.

6) Dylan Wade, UCF

Scouting Report

Dylan Wade was someone I added to my watch list late in the week, and I am glad he did. He is a fun option in a UCF offense that is very hit or miss, but he shows sparks of being an NFL tight end.

7) Garrett Oakley, Kansas State

Scouting Report

Garrett Oakley, right now, could be a day two pick based solely on his blocking ability. He has a chance to showcase himself a bit more with the regime change in Manhattan, Kansas.

8) Peter Clarke, Temple

Scouting Report

Clarke is a fun tight end prospect to watch if you get stuck watching Temple. He has not played football very long in his life, and he is already showing tremendous promise; he deserves your attention as a result.

9) Ben Brahmer, Penn State

Scouting Report

Brahmer comes to Penn State with his head coach, Matt Campbell, from Iowa State. Brahmer is a reliable blocker who flashes promising moments as a receiving option.

10) Dorian Fleming, Maryland

Scouting Report

Fleming has some severe drop issues and needs work as a blocker. However, when he concentrates, he shows great usage as a receiver, and he needs to build on that.
