Top Contenders for the 2026 Dirt Late Model Dream at Eldora Speedway

Each year, the Dirt Late Model Dream at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio, serves as a defining moment for drivers, separating true contenders from the rest. This prestigious event, which offers a six-figure prize, attracts the sport’s elite as they vie for recognition and potential career-changing victories. In 2026, the competition is fierce, with over 80 entrants, including 11 previous winners of Eldora's major events, ready to make their mark. The Dream XXXII festivities kick off Wednesday with FloRacing Night in America, followed by two nights of preliminary races offering $30,000 each to the victor.

Leading the charge is Jonathan Davenport from Blairsville, Georgia, a three-time Dream champion. He heads into this year’s competition with an impressive ten wins already under his belt, including three in May alone. Davenport's past performances suggest that he remains the benchmark for success at Eldora.

Another strong contender is Nick Hoffman from Mooresville, North Carolina, who is riding a wave of momentum after securing a career-high $100,057 victory at Mansfield. With seven wins this season and a podium finish in both the Dream and World 100 last year, Hoffman is eager to prove he can thrive under pressure.

Chris Madden from Gray Court, South Carolina, has consistently showcased his skills at Eldora, boasting six podium finishes in major races, including three consecutive second-place finishes in the Dream from 2021 to 2023. Despite never having won the event, his track record makes him a formidable opponent.

Tim McCreadie from Watertown, New York, may not have a plethora of wins this season, but his experience at Eldora is invaluable. The 2018 World 100 champion finished fourth in last year’s Dream, showcasing his ability to perform when it matters most.

Dale McDowell, the 2014 Dream winner, has fewer starts this season but remains a serious threat. After leading much of last year’s Dream before finishing sixth, McDowell continues to demonstrate his competitiveness, especially after a strong showing in the World 100.

Devin Moran from Dresden, Ohio, enters with five wins this season, although he hasn’t secured a victory in May. His speed has made him a strong contender at Eldora, and he may be poised for a resurgence this week.

Hudson O’Neal from Martinsville, Indiana, boasts an impressive record this season with 13 wins and 30 podium finishes. However, he faces a challenge, having gone winless in his last seven races, a trend that could impact his performance.

Bobby Pierce, the reigning World 100 champion, is searching for his first Dream victory. With 11 wins this season and recent successes worth over $105,000, he is among the favorites to claim the coveted globe trophy.

Brandon Sheppard from New Berlin, Illinois, the 2019 Dream winner, shows signs of returning to form with eight wins this season. His steady improvement makes him a key player as he seeks another victory at Eldora.

Lastly, Ricky Thornton Jr. from Chandler, Arizona, enters the week with four wins but is aware of the historical trend that suggests a driver typically needs at least five victories to win the Dream. However, having already won the World 100, Thornton knows how to shine on Eldora’s biggest stage.
