Tyler Rosenthal Takes the Helm at Biggersville Football Program

Tyler Rosenthal has been appointed as the new head coach of Biggersville's football team, stepping into a role within one of the most successful small-school programs in Mississippi over the last decade. He succeeds Case Ingram, who departed after five seasons to take the head coaching position at Saltillo. Under Ingram's leadership, the Lions secured their inaugural state championship in 2023 and achieved an impressive record of 93 wins against 21 losses over the past nine years, with six seasons featuring ten or more victories.

Rosenthal expressed his enthusiasm for this opportunity, stating, “Super, super pumped, super excited. Excited to be at a great program like Biggersville.” He acknowledged the strong community support he has received thus far and emphasized his intention to build upon the foundation laid by Ingram, noting, “I’m just trying to keep things going and put my own spin on it.”

At 35 years old, Rosenthal arrives from Amory, where he served as the defensive coordinator for the last five seasons. During his tenure, he contributed to four winning seasons and nine playoff victories under head coach Brooks Dampeer. Reflecting on his experience, Rosenthal remarked, “Coach Dampeer meant the world to me. He gave me my first shot to call one side of the football.”

Although Biggersville will be losing key players from last year's roster, including standout athletes Zialis Blackmon, Xae Mayes, and Brooks Seago, Rosenthal remains optimistic about the team's ability to reload talent. He outlined his aggressive game plan, saying, “Offensively I want to be a first-step football team. We’re going to run the ball, and we’re going to spread it out, and we’re going to throw it, and we’re going to get it to our best players.” Defensively, he aims to instill a relentless pursuit of the football, focusing on creating turnovers and maintaining a high-energy approach.

Rosenthal comes from a coaching lineage, as he is the son of Bill Rosenthal, who previously held coaching positions at Saltillo, Holly Springs, and Oak Hill Academy.
