“Unbelievable” Chelsea players returns – but we’d rather see him on the bench this week

Chelsea are starting Levi Colwill for the first time this season today, and manager Calum McFarlane has spoken about his impact.

Chelsea’s team today has a few interesting features, not least a first start after 9 months out injured for Levi Colwill. Speaking to TNT Sport ahead of the game

“We are delighted to have Levi back. It’s been a long road,” McFarlane said.

“He’s been unbelievable. I’m really happy that he gets back to starting a Premier League game. We’ve missed him. He adds a lot: his experience, his leadership, his quality. He’s got everything you need in a centre back. So we’re delighted to have him back.”

Colwill return will have fans biting their nails

We’re delighted too, although we’re a bit worried about starting him in this game. There is really nothing to play for this season, and we’d rather have seen him brought along more slowly.

We’re sure the medical department have given him the all clear, but still, we’d rather they operated at 100% caution rather than even 90%. Seeing Colwill relapse would be the only way this end to the campaign can get worse.

Chelsea have had “positive first talks” with Xabi Alonso according to Nicolo Schira’s report today, something which will get fans very excited.

Schira’s report on the Iraola situation makes it clear that Crystal Palace have made an “official bid” to sign him and are doing all they can to convince him of their project.
