USC Football Countdown: A Look Back at Tight End Randall Telfer

The countdown to the start of the 2026 USC football season is underway, with the Trojans set to host San Jose State on August 29 at the Coliseum. In anticipation of the season opener, we are reflecting on notable former players, beginning with tight end Randall Telfer.

Randall Telfer played for USC from 2010 to 2014, joining the team during Lane Kiffin's first recruiting class. He was one of two tight ends brought in that year, alongside Xavier Grimble. After both players redshirted their freshman year, they quickly became a formidable pair at the position over the next three years. Following Grimble's decision to enter the NFL draft in 2014, Telfer stepped up as the primary tight end for his senior season.

Over the course of his career at USC, Telfer recorded 65 receptions for 648 yards and 12 touchdowns. He emerged as a clutch performer, with seven of his touchdowns scored against rivals such as UCLA, Notre Dame, or against top-ranked teams.

After his collegiate career, Telfer was drafted in the sixth round of the 2015 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns. During his two seasons in Cleveland, he made five receptions for a total of 40 yards. However, after being released in 2018 and failing a physical with the Indianapolis Colts, he chose to retire from professional football.

In 2017, Telfer completed his master's degree from USC. Currently, he serves as the Vice President of Digital Marketing at Interscope Records in Los Angeles, according to his LinkedIn profile.
