Utah Linebacker Brody Downs Chooses Oregon State, Discusses His Choice

This past weekend proved significant for the Oregon State Beavers as they welcomed three new commitments, including standout linebacker Brody Downs from Lehi, Utah. Prior to his visit, Downs hinted at his intention to commit, stating, "I was pretty confident coming in I was going to commit." He had previously visited Oregon State for a spring practice and their Spring Game, experiences that solidified his decision.

Downs expressed enthusiasm for his choice, noting the strong connection he felt with the coaching staff. "After meeting all the coaches and seeing their belief in me, I knew Oregon State was a great fit," he added. He highlighted the opportunity for growth and the robust culture within the program as key reasons for his commitment. "Cort Dennison is my main recruiter and he did a phenomenal job," Downs remarked, emphasizing the strong rapport he has developed with the coaching team.

At 6-foot-1 and weighing 215 pounds, Downs has showcased impressive athleticism, evidenced by his performance at the Under Armour Next Camp in Utah, where he recorded a 4.2 shuttle time and a 32-inch vertical leap, ranking among the best for linebackers. "I think I’m going to fit in really well in their defense," he said, noting that the coaching staff views him as a versatile player capable of playing both middle and hybrid linebacker positions.

With great anticipation for his new chapter, Downs concluded, "I just feel really blessed with this opportunity. Oregon State feels like home and I’m very excited to have my decision locked in. I think the Beavs are going to turn some heads this year."
