Virginia Tech Secures Commitment from Cornerback Turmarian Moreland
Palm Beach Lakes standout Turmarian Moreland Jr. has pledged his future to the Virginia Tech Hokies, further enhancing the team's already impressive 2027 recruiting class. The three-star cornerback made his announcement on Friday, choosing Virginia Tech over offers from Auburn, Georgia, and Louisville.
Standing at 6 feet 2 inches and weighing 170 pounds, Moreland is versatile, having played both wide receiver and defensive back in high school. However, he is expected to transition to safety when he joins the Hokies. His commitment is particularly notable given that just days earlier, edge rusher Rion Jackson opted for Auburn instead of Virginia Tech.
Moreland expressed his excitement about joining the Hokies, stating, “It just felt like home when I went on my official visit, and our trust with coach Franklin and what he’s building over there.” His decision marks the 24th commitment for Virginia Tech in the 2027 class, which has now climbed to the seventh spot in national rankings according to 247Sports. Moreland joins fellow safety Elijah Butler from Baltimore in this growing class.
The Hokies are not resting on their laurels, as they continue to pursue additional talent, including Chris Whitehead, the top-ranked player in Virginia. With this latest commitment, James Franklin's program is showing significant momentum in its recruiting efforts.
