With 28-point lead, Caitlin Clark moves one technical away from suspension, missing Fever game

INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark is one technical foul away from a mandated one-game suspension.

Clark picked up her seventh tech of the season on Wednesday night after jawing with Connecticut Sun guard Saniya Rivers near the end of the third quarter. Rivers had some words for Clark after she drew a foul on Olivia Nelson-Ododa, and Clark responded by pointing up to the scoreboard, which showed Indiana's 95-67 lead at the time, and saying "look at the (expletive) scoreboard."

Clark continued to talk, but she was held back by her teammates. Both she and Rivers were given a technical, so they offset. Clark will pay a $1,000 fine to the league for the technical.

There are 17 games left in the season. If Clark picks up another technical in the regular season, she will automatically be suspended for one game without pay by the league. Clark got close to hitting the former seven-technical limit in her rookie season in 2024, but ended the season with six.

Clark picked up her sixth tech of the season on Saturday against New York, and answered with a simple "no" when asked in practice on Monday if she would change her approach to try and avoid getting techs.
