Aaron Donald Hints at Possible Comeback Following Myles Garrett Trade
The Los Angeles Rams have made headlines by trading for Cleveland Browns star Myles Garrett, enhancing their already impressive roster. In a significant move, the Rams exchanged Jared Verse along with future draft picks—a first-round selection in 2027, a second-round pick in 2028, and a third-round pick in 2029—to bring the two-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year to Los Angeles.
This acquisition has sparked speculation about the potential for a dominant defensive lineup, especially if the Rams were to reunite Garrett with three-time DPOY Aaron Donald, who retired following the 2024 season. In a recent conversation with Pat McAfee, Donald revealed that the trade has reignited thoughts about his own playing days, stating, “It for sure got me thinking. Thirty-five, removed two years ago, gotta see if that fire can light back up.”
Donald’s comments suggest that he may be contemplating a return to the field, potentially aiming to assist the Rams in their quest for a Super Bowl victory at SoFi Stadium next season. His former teammate, Michael Brockers, also weighed in on the possibility of Donald's comeback, indicating that Donald remains physically prepared. “I would say that I do have some information that might be considered as some knowledge that others might not have,” Brockers shared on the “Locked On Rams Squad Show.” He added, “But I will say this: My guy is staying ready so he doesn’t have to get ready.”
If Donald were to come out of retirement and join forces with Garrett, the Rams would undoubtedly present a formidable challenge to their opponents in the upcoming season.
