Aces Survive Late Challenge to Maintain Unbeaten Streak in Commissioner’s Cup

The Las Vegas Aces narrowly secured a 100-97 victory over the Minnesota Lynx in a thrilling match on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Michelob ULTRA Arena. This win keeps the Aces as the only undefeated team in the Western Conference for the Commissioner’s Cup in-season tournament, inching them closer to a spot in the final on June 30.

Aces point guard Chelsea Gray emphasized the significance of the tournament, referring to it as a “midseason measuring stick” that allows teams to gauge their standing against one another. She noted, “It’s always good to play for charity and a bigger purpose, and everyone likes money, right? If we can get a couple more wins, we put ourselves in a pretty good position to do that.”

Once again, the Aces' star players played a crucial role in the victory. A’ja Wilson led the team with 24 points and 10 rebounds, while Jackie Young contributed 16 points and 10 assists. Gray also had a standout performance, scoring 23 points. NaLyssa Smith, Jewell Loyd, and Cheyenne Parker-Tyus added valuable support with 15, nine, and nine points, respectively. Coach Becky Hammon praised her key players, stating, “They know each other’s games inside and out. They’re just a lot to deal with.”

The Aces showcased their offensive versatility, particularly from beyond the arc, where they took 25 three-point attempts. Gray set the tone early by sinking multiple shots from long range, and all of the Aces’ star players contributed to this effort. Hammon acknowledged the importance of their shooting strategy, saying, “If we’re not shooting well, eventually, the ball’s gonna go in the hole; we just keep taking good ones.”

On the Lynx side, Olivia Miles emerged as a standout rookie, finishing with a game-high 29 points despite a slow start. Her performance has solidified her status as a contender for Rookie of the Year. Even though the Lynx faced challenges with foul trouble, particularly with Natasha Howard fouling out after scoring 22 points, Miles proved she has the potential to shine in critical moments. “I think she’s shown numerous times that she can be great in big moments,” Smith noted.

The Aces are now set to face the Dallas Wings next, where they will aim to secure their place in the Commissioner’s Cup final.
