Ali Tareen Reveals Unpaid Wages for PSL Staff, Highlighting PCB's Financial Troubles
Ali Tareen, the former owner of the Multan Sultans, has raised serious concerns regarding the financial state of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) by alleging that staff members hired for the 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL) have yet to receive their payments. With the tournament having wrapped up in March and now being June, many of these employees, primarily logistics officers and event coordinators, have been waiting for their dues for nearly three months.
Tareen took to social media platform X to voice his frustrations, stating, “Just so everyone knows: the staff hired by the PSL this season, including logistics officers and event staff, still have not been paid. #UnpaidEra.” His comments have ignited discussions about the financial management of the PSL and the PCB's obligations towards its workforce.
In a recent effort to address its financial issues, the PCB has begun pursuing payments from various stakeholders, including franchises and broadcasters, issuing legal notices to collect outstanding dues. While some franchises have settled their annual fees, they have simultaneously complained that the PCB has not disbursed their share of revenue from the league's central pool, with reports indicating that around PKR 96 crore remains unpaid since the PSL's 10th edition.
The situation is compounded by the fact that the broadcaster responsible for the PSL's media rights has reportedly defaulted on payments, owing around PKR 4.5 billion. This media company has claimed significant losses, complicating the PCB's financial landscape even further. A source indicated that this financial entanglement has hindered the PCB's ability to maintain accurate financial records and conduct audits, raising concerns about the board's overall fiscal health.
As the PCB grapples with these financial challenges, the affected PSL staff continue to await their payments, leaving many to question the board's financial management and future strategies.
