Astros Dominate Brewers 9-2 with Power Hitting from Walker and Peña

HOUSTON (AP) — The Houston Astros showcased their offensive strength on Saturday, defeating the Milwaukee Brewers 9-2, fueled by a powerful three-run home run from Christian Walker and a two-run blast from Jeremy Peña, who also contributed three hits in the game.

Peña’s home run in the second inning shifted the momentum, giving the Astros a 3-1 lead after they had fallen behind early. The Astros then increased their advantage by scoring three additional runs in the fifth, following a brief rally from the Brewers. Walker capped off the scoring with his homer in the eighth, extending Houston's lead to 9-2.

This victory marked the Astros' seventh win in their last nine games while ending the Brewers' four-game winning streak. Starting pitcher Peter Lambert (4-4) earned the win, allowing two runs and five hits over five innings, while Milwaukee's Brandon Sproat (1-4) struggled, giving up five runs on six hits in 4 1/3 innings.

The game began with the Brewers' William Contreras driving in a run with a two-out double in the first. However, the Astros quickly rallied, tying the game in the second when Jake Meyers' single brought Cam Smith home. Peña’s home run followed, solidifying Houston's lead.

The Brewers attempted to fight back in the fifth, with Jackson Chourio’s single narrowing the score to 3-2. Yet, the Astros responded decisively, with a series of hits that included an infield single from Taylor Trammell and a double from Isaac Paredes that ultimately widened the gap.

Looking ahead, Houston will send RHP Tatsuya Imai (2-2, 6.17 ERA) to the mound for the series finale on Sunday, following his impressive performance in a previous no-hitter. He will face RHP Jacob Misiorowski (5-2, 1.83) from Milwaukee.
