The Pakistan cricket team dealt with another blow in their ongoing away Test series against Bangladesh as the ICC has docked WTC points for slow over-rate in their first Test match in Mirpur.
Pakistan were off to a nightmare start in their tour of Bangladesh as they went down by 104 runs in the first match of the series against the hosts.
It was an utter humiliation for Pakistan, who lost 10 wickets on the final day and meekly surrendered against a spirited Bangladesh side.
Now, a day before the second Test kicks off, ICC have decided to dock eight points from their World Test Championship 2025-27 tally and fined the team 40 per cent of their match fee.
Pakistan were eight overs short of their target and were charged under Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which deals with minimum over-rate offences. Players are fined five per cent of their match fee for every over their side fails to bowl within the allotted time.
As per Article 16.11.2 of the World Test Championship playing conditions, teams lose one championship point for each over short, resulting in Pakistan being docked eight crucial points in the WTC standings.
