Freddie Freeman Achieves Milestone 2,500 Hits in MLB History

On Tuesday night, Freddie Freeman etched his name in Major League Baseball history by securing his 2,500th career hit during a game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. This achievement makes him the 102nd player in MLB to reach this significant milestone.

The Los Angeles Dodgers' first baseman accomplished this feat with a run-scoring hit off reliever Brandan Bidois in the seventh inning, contributing to the Dodgers' commanding 12-3 win at PNC Park. Freeman finished the game with two hits out of four at-bats and has been on a hot streak, boasting a .357 batting average over his last 18 games.

Freeman, who previously played for the Atlanta Braves for 12 seasons, has also marked other notable milestones with the Dodgers, including his 300th home run and 500th double. A nine-time All-Star, he has played a crucial role in the Dodgers' back-to-back World Series victories and was named the World Series MVP in 2024.

As a potential first-ballot Hall of Famer, Freeman currently leads active MLB players in hits, doubles (563), RBIs (1,358), and runs scored (1,414). The following is a list of the top active hit leaders in MLB:

Freddie Freeman, 2,500
Jose Altuve, 2,430
Andrew McCutchen, 2,280
Paul Goldschmidt, 2,229
Manny Machado, 2,107
