Bayern Munich director snides Paris Saint-Germain for celebrating after the fifth goal
PARIS, FRANCE - APRIL 28: Max Eberl of FC Bayern Muenchen arrives at the stadium prior to the UEFA Champions League 2025/26 Semi Final First Leg match between Paris Saint-Germain and FC Bayern München at Parc des Princes on April 28, 2026 in Paris, France. Bayern Munich heads into the second leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-finals. The team has a lot to redeem themselves with at home, and most importantly, they have a 1-goal deficit to bridge, since they lost 5-4 at the Parc Des Princes. The slope is steep for the Bavarians, who today, were exposed to the quality of PSG’s football and players and failed to deliver an answer to some pressing questions.

However, it is clear that Bayern fought hard. Facing a side like PSG is not easy given how quickly the game can flip in the home side’s favor. Given the difficulties and the challenge of the game, most have nothing but praise for Bayern’s response, even if they did not win.

Max Eberl, the director of sport, spoke to Sky Germany following the game and called it grandiose.

“That was a grandiose match. I’ve rarely experienced a game at this level. Compliments to our team,” he said, as captured by Sky Sports journalist Kerry Hau.

Then Eberl takes a shot at PSG — he thinks they celebrated too hard following the fifth goal scored by Ousmane Dembélé. “After the 5:2, the PSG players celebrated as if they were already in the Budapest final,” he remarked. “We came back, and now everything is wide open in the return leg. The Allianz Arena is a fortress,” Eberl declared.

Certainly Bayern are more than capable of the comeback. But is Eberl’s “anger” misplaced?
