Braves Extend Winning Streak Against Corbin with 7-3 Victory Over Blue Jays

ATLANTA (AP) — In a commanding performance, Mauricio Dubón launched a crucial three-run homer during the third inning, propelling the Atlanta Braves to a 7-3 triumph over the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday night. This win marks the Braves' continued dominance over left-hander Patrick Corbin.

The game took a turn when Nathan Lukes put Toronto ahead 2-1 with a homer off Grant Holmes (4-2) in the third. However, the Braves quickly responded. After Matt Olson's single and Ozzie Albies' double advanced Olson to third, Dubón's powerful shot into the Braves’ bullpen gave Atlanta a 4-2 lead. Olson, who also contributed with a decisive homer in the previous night's contest against the Blue Jays, recorded three hits in this game.

Albies further widened the gap in the seventh inning with a three-run homer off lefty Adam Macko, allowing Olson to score again and extending the Braves’ lead to five runs. Toronto's Brandon Valenzuela managed to hit a home run off Tyler Kinley in the ninth, but it was not enough to change the outcome.

Corbin struggled on the mound, surrendering four runs on six hits and two walks across five innings, resulting in his 12th consecutive loss to the Braves. This streak ties him with Mark Buehrle for the longest stretch of defeats against a single team in MLB history, with Buehrle previously losing 12 straight to the Yankees from 2004 to 2014.

Throughout his career, Corbin's record against Atlanta stands at 6-13, with this losing streak starting back on September 6, 2019, when he was with Washington. The Braves secured the series victory, boasting the best record in the majors at 42-20 and an impressive 17-2-1 in series play.

Looking ahead, Atlanta's left-handed pitcher Chris Sale (8-3, 2.01 ERA) is set to take the mound for the series finale on Thursday night, while Toronto has yet to confirm its starting pitcher. RHP Chad Dallas, who has a 4.50 ERA in 10 appearances for Triple-A Buffalo, is a potential candidate for promotion.
