Brody Bumila Concludes Stellar High School Career at Polar Park

WORCESTER — Brody Bumila, the standout baseball player from Bishop Feehan High School, took the field at Polar Park on June 10, reflecting on his incredible journey as he prepared for the Division 1 state championship game. “It would mean everything to hopefully win another state championship for Feehan,” he shared, envisioning the thrill of stepping onto the mound at the home of the Worcester Red Sox.

After an impressive winter where he led the Bishop Feehan boys' basketball team to a Division 1 state championship, Bumila aimed to bring similar success to the baseball squad. Unfortunately, the Shamrocks fell short, suffering a 13-4 defeat to Catholic Memorial, marking a bittersweet end to a remarkable season.

Despite the loss, the 18-year-old from Raynham reflected on the significance of his high school sports experience. “I lived it to the max… I want to live life with no regret. I can’t say I regretted life this year,” Bumila stated, highlighting his commitment to enjoying every moment of his senior year. His basketball season was extraordinary; he averaged 30.6 points and 15.2 rebounds per game, culminating in a state title victory on March 15.

Bumila's road back to the baseball diamond was not without challenges. Following a UCL injury that required surgery, he made a triumphant return to pitching this spring. On April 2, in his first high school start in nearly two years, he dazzled nearly 50 MLB scouts by clocking pitches over 100 mph and striking out nine batters in just three innings.

Throughout the season, Bumila continued to dominate on the mound, not allowing a hit until his fifth start and setting a school record with 20 strikeouts in one game. By the time of the state final, he had accumulated an impressive 92 strikeouts over 42.1 innings pitched. His performance not only showcased his skills but also captured the attention of scouts, solidifying his reputation as a top prospect.
