Bruins Defensemen Make Long-Term Impact Amid Injury Challenges

The Boston Bruins have secured three key defensemen through 2030, each contributing uniquely during the 2025-26 season despite facing various injuries. Charlie McAvoy and Hampus Lindholm returned from significant injuries, while Nikita Zadorov stepped up as a dependable option in their absence, logging substantial ice time throughout the season.

McAvoy, the Bruins' leading defenseman, faced a tumultuous season marked by injuries and lineup shifts. He managed to rebound effectively from a shoulder injury sustained the previous season, achieving career-highs in assists and points. Over the last half of the season, McAvoy recorded 41 points, including a notable 23 on the power play. He not only recorded solid statistics with 22 points but also displayed a physical presence, accumulating 152 penalty minutes. His performance helped stabilize the blue line during a challenging season for the Bruins' defense.
