Byram Hills Clinches Marathon Victory Over Pleasantville in Section 1 Baseball Showdown

The Byram Hills High School baseball team triumphed in a thrilling 16-inning contest against Pleasantville, securing the Section 1 Class A title with a final score of 4-3 on Saturday, May 30. The championship match took place at North Rockland High School in Thiells, showcasing a remarkable display of endurance and skill from both teams.

The game, which began at 1:43 p.m. after a delayed start due to a previous 10-inning game, saw Pleasantville score their final runs in the fourth inning. From that point on, both teams relied heavily on their pitching. Pleasantville’s Henry Reed delivered an impressive nine innings of scoreless relief, while Byram Hills’ Logan Verna matched that performance with eight innings without allowing a run.

The contest came to a dramatic conclusion at 6:29 p.m., when Nate Khaldarov brought in Ben Kent with the decisive run in the 16th inning. This victory sets Byram Hills on a path to the state tournament, where they will compete in the regional finals at Cantine Field in Saugerties just seven days later.
